Into the Desert, Masada and the Dead Sea part 2

Following our time atop Masada, we experienced the weightlessness as we floated in the Dead Sea.  As we were driving to the beach, Uri shared with us that, if no steps are taken, the Dead Sea could cease to exist in about 50 years, because the rate of evaporation is greater than the rate of new water feeding the Dead Sea.  In fact, the Dead Sea retreats almost a meter each year.

There is one thing for sure, because of the sting of its salt concentration, the Dead Sea will help you find every cut you have on your body!  People usually walk in calmly into the Dead Sea, and they almost always run out top speed to get to the fresh water showers.  The mud at the Dead Sea is said to have healing and rejuveninating properties when applied to the skin.  Here are some pictures of our time in the Dead Sea.  We are hoping one of our Acorn pictures might even get published.

After washing all of the salt off of our bodies we took a short drive into the Judean desert to ride camels.  Hey, we are in the Middle East after all!

We had an absolute blast on these precious animals.

Getting up is half the fun, as my wife Leasa shows as our camel stood up with us in top.

The guide handed the reins of the camels to Hayley, and she became the guide in charge of all 10 camels.

After some of our heavier experiences during our trip, it wa nice to do a couple of activities simply for fun and enjoyment, and we took advantage of the opportunity.  I hope you will consider taking the opportunity to come and float in the Dead Sea and rejuvenate your body with the mineral filled mud...
